SickTick — Privacy Policy

SickTick is a local-first symptom and medication tracker for personal, home use. This policy explains, plainly, what happens to your data.

What SickTick collects

Nothing is collected by us. SickTick has no account, no sign-in, no internet connection, and no analytics or advertising SDKs. The app cannot see, and we cannot receive, anything you enter.

What you enter, and where it lives

Every sickness, temperature reading, medication entry, and note you add is stored only in this device's local app storage (IndexedDB), including any entries you make on behalf of another person you care for, such as a child. Processing of that data — showing it back to you, computing trends and charts — happens entirely on this device; nothing is transmitted anywhere, so there is no legal basis question to answer beyond running the feature you asked for, locally.

Backups and moving to a new device

The Android app explicitly disables Android's automatic cloud backup for its data, so your entries are not included in Google's device backup or restored onto a new device automatically. SickTick does not currently offer an export/import feature, so data does not move between devices — this is a deliberate trade-off for keeping it off any cloud by default, not an oversight, but it does mean uninstalling, wiping, or losing the device permanently deletes the data. If you use the PWA (browser) version instead of the Android app, your browser's own "clear site data" action or a fresh browser profile has the same effect.

Children's data

SickTick lets one person (a parent or caregiver) track another person's symptoms, including a child's. If you enter a child's health information, you are doing so as their parent/guardian, and the same on-device-only handling described in this policy applies to that data. We have no way to distinguish a child's entries from an adult's, because we never see either.

Sharing with third parties

None. There is no server to send data to, and no third party ever receives it.

Your rights over this data

Because your data only ever exists on your own device, you already have full, immediate access to it — every reading, medication, and note is visible and editable in the app. Use "Delete all data" in Settings, or uninstall the app, to exercise your right to erasure; either permanently removes everything, since there is no copy anywhere else to delete. We do not currently support exporting your data to a portable file format.

Security

Data at rest is protected by your device's own app-sandboxing and storage encryption (standard on modern Android and desktop/mobile browsers) — SickTick does not add any additional encryption of its own, and does not need to, since nothing leaves the sandbox in the first place.

International transfers

None occur, for the same reason: nothing is transmitted anywhere.

SickTick is not a medical device and does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical condition. It is a personal log only. Always consult a doctor or other qualified healthcare professional about any health concerns, symptoms, or treatment decisions.

Changes to this policy

If SickTick's data handling ever changes (for example, if a future version adds advertising or an export feature), this page and the in-app copy will be updated to describe it before that version is released.
